Welcome to the web site for the Warlingham and District Angler's Society, the major club serving North East Surrey and Croydon.
Please feel free to browse our site, which will be updated frequently to show our activities, and if you feel that you wish to join, click on the membership form link, to open up the form and print off a copy. .
The Society, which was formed just after the Second World War in 1947 exists to promote the sport of angling. It is our goal to ensure that our members have opportunities to fish in well stocked waters in peaceful surroundings. In 2007 we celebrated our Diamond Jubilee with several events and in 2008 we held more events in aid of Kent Air Ambulance
We are primarily a coarse fishing club and hold friendly competitions and occasionally stray into the more competitive local leagues, the Angling Times SuperCup and if there is sufficient interest a team in the Angling Trust (formerly NFA) National.
Our waters include quality fish (a superb 1-13-0 roach was caught by David C King at Ladycross Farm in April 2011) with catches of over 100 lb possible.
Our social events see many well known names attend and give an insight. Past examples include four times World Champion Bob Nudd, England coach Mark Downes, Daiwa Dorking's Steve Sanders, Will Raison, match angler turned specimen hunter John Merritt plus Dickie Carr, angling legend the late Ivan Marks, the late David Bird, Richie MacDonald (what has happened to this carp fishing character?) and Angler's Mail contributors Bill and Virginia Rushmer.
Our special guest in 2008 was talkSport and Tightlines presenter Keith Arthur. And for the 2009 AGM in April, current World Champion Will Raison attended as guest speaker. In 2010 Robbie Taylor, AT/Maver Pairs finalist and Fish to Win Pairs winner (with Pete Upperton) presented our trophies and then hammered out 220-10-0 of carp at Gold Valley the following day.
